In this month’s edition of the Lost in the Rhythm radio show, get ready for another immersive journey through the world of deep, soulful, and afro-inspired house music. Rob Coley, your resident DJ, sets the stage with an hour of brand-new releases in the first hour, including mixes and original productions from Boddhi Satva, Jihad Muhammad, Coflo, Crackazat, June Jazzin, Simbad, and Frederick. In the second, we hop over to Boston, Massachusetts, and meet one of the city’s house music stalwarts, K.C. Hallet, aka KCIV.
For our November session, we are pleased to welcome one of Boston’s truest DJs and producers, KCIV. Originally hailing from New Hampshire, KCIV’s love for music began as a dance enthusiast who frequented iconic venues like “The Loft” in Boston and The Shelter in New York City. After an accident led to a shift away from dancing, KCIV delved into collecting and mixing records, starting with Deep House and expanding into other genres such as Jazz, R&B, soul, Drum and Bass, Techno, Reggae, Disco Classics, and more. KCIV moved to Boston in the late 90s, where he began to focus on developing his DJ career further. Working in the city’s record stores, such as Biscuithead, Boston Beat, and Satellite Records, KCIV honed the skills to spin and became a resident DJ at Soul Revival, one of Boston’s longest-running dance parties. Often recognised as a great DJ to dance to and a true master of the craft, KCIV’s ear for music and appreciation of sounds from around the world find him a place at the top of many tastemakers’ lists.
