Novakane Omega
Novakane Omega is a Norfolk, Virginia-based vocalist, producer, DJ, and emcee with a music career spanning three decades. Her work is distinguished by a sultry vocal style and lyrical depth that seamlessly blend elements of house, hip-hop, and soul. As one half of the emcee duo The Rubber Peeple, an offshoot of the Jhunippuz Elite Poetry Organization, she has been a pivotal figure in underground music scenes. Her collaborations include projects like “Yaa Neteru“, with Jayphonic and K Civ, a track that melds ancient Khemetic Egyptian language with ethereal house rhythms, and “The White Room“ with Native Jenkins, a collective celebrating rebirth and infinite potential through soulful house music. Additionally, her feature on Mikekon’s “It’s Yours” showcases her versatility and commitment to genre-defying artistry.
Beyond her musical endeavours, Novakane Omega is a dedicated educator and cultural advocate. She co-founded Soul Trust Records, an independent label and production company, and created the online educational blog Each Nine Teach Nine, focusing on health, education, and Black culture. Her multifaceted talents extend to writing, visual arts, and health activism, reflecting a holistic approach to creativity and community engagement. Through her diverse projects, Novakane Omega continues to inspire and uplift, using art as a vehicle for positive change.
